Scope
GB/T 43566-2023 is the English-translated version of 中小学人造草面层足球场地.
China's national standard for artificial turf football fields at primary and middle schools. It completes the group of school sports surface standards and addresses the most scrutinised of the three. Artificial turf is a carpet of polymer fibres held upright by an infill, and the infill has historically been crumb rubber from recycled tyres - which is cheap, works well, and brings into a children's playing field the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, zinc and other substances that a tyre contains. That question has been argued internationally for two decades. The Chinese school standard resolves it by specifying what the infill may be and what the whole system may emit, alongside the playing requirements: the fibre's durability under abrasion, the shock absorption and vertical deformation that determine injury risk, and the rotational resistance that decides whether a boot releases or a knee turns.

The terms and definitions defined in GB 36246 and the following apply to this document: 3:
1 Synthetic fibers similar to natural grass are mechanically woven and fixed on the base fabric to form artificial grass, which is bonded on site and combined with elastic cushions and other necessary Other materials are assembled into the overall surface layer:
Note: If the artificial grass is filled with quartz sand and/or elastic particles, it is called a filled artificial grass surface layer, otherwise it is called an unfilled artificial grass surface layer:
