1 Scope

China's national standard for artificial turf football fields at primary and middle schools. It completes the group of school sports surface standards and addresses the most scrutinised of the three. Artificial turf is a carpet of polymer fibres held upright by an infill, and the infill has historically been crumb rubber from recycled tyres - which is cheap, works well, and brings into a children's playing field the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, zinc and other substances that a tyre contains. That question has been argued internationally for two decades.
