This document is modified to adopt ISO /IEC 24779-4.2017 "Interjurisdictional and social aspects of the implementation of biometrics in information technology"

This document has the following structural adjustments compared to ISO /IEC 24779-4.2017.

---Due to the deletion of informative appendix A and appendix B of ISO /IEC 24779-4.2017, appendix A of this document corresponds to

Annex C of ISO /IEC 24779-4.2017.

The following editorial changes have been made to this document.

--- In order to harmonize with existing standards, change the name of the standard to "Illustrations, Icons and Symbols of Information Technology for Biometric Identification Systems"

No. 4.Fingerprint Application";

--- Removed the URL of ISO and IEC maintaining standardized terms in "Terms and Definitions";

--- Delete the informative Appendix A and Appendix B, because its content describes the research process of the relevant results in the international standard.

Introduction

At present, biometric identification technology has been widely used in public terminals. These terminals will be placed in a variety of environments, including unattended,

Manned or only partially manned terminal equipment; for example, one person on duty to several terminal equipment, or through CCTV and audio links

Language-independent symbols (such as icons) that indicate biometric and/or command modality are especially important for occasional users.

Due to the lack of widely used standard diagrams, icons and symbols, manufacturers use their own proprietary diagrams, icons and symbols for screen

Screen display, which may cause confusion for public users of self-service terminals. So a standard diagram, icon and symbology is required.

1 Scope

This document contains a series of diagrams, icons and symbols to help the general public understand the concept of collecting and/or processing fingerprints using electronic systems

thought and process. This series of illustrations, icons and symbols aims to.

--- Provide static instructions related to fingerprint identification devices;

--- Demonstrate dynamic real-time information related to fingerprint identification devices;

--- Indicates the status of the fingerprint recognition device.

In order to provide these functions, this series of illustrations, icons and symbols includes directional illustrations, icons and symbols and real-time action or feedback diagrams
