Scope
GB/T 40626-2021 is the English-translated version of 杨树细菌性溃疡病菌检疫鉴定方法.
GB/T 40626-2021 is the Chinese national method for detecting and identifying Xanthomonas populi, the bacterium that causes poplar bacterial canker. It describes symptom inspection, isolation and culture, biochemical characterization and molecular identification of the pathogen.
The identification rests on the disease symptoms, colony morphology, the tobacco hypersensitive reaction, physiological, biochemical and molecular characteristics, and pathogenicity testing, following a set inspection process, while an annex gives background information on the disease.
It applies to quarantine, detection and identification of the bacterium carried in poplar seedlings and other plant material entering or leaving China, and to field surveys and disease monitoring.
Plant quarantine laboratories use it. It was issued on 11 October 2021 and has applied since 1 May 2022.
