Scope
GB/T 40305-2021 is the English-translated version of 现场设备集成 EDD与OPC UA集成技术规范.
GB/T 40305-2021 specifies how the electronic device description (EDD) of a field device is integrated with an OPC UA server. It sets out the integration architecture and its basic principles, the elements of the EDDL language, and an OPC UA device information model based on EDD, in block-based and non-block-based forms.
It then gives the rules for mapping EDD elements into OPC UA, including blocks, VARIABLE, ARRAY, RECORD and parameters, and the correspondence between EDDL and OPC UA data types, with an informative annex on the binary file format.
It is intended for system integrators, system suppliers and end users who bring field device data into upper-level applications. It was issued on 20 August 2021 and has applied since 1 March 2022.

3.1 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1.1 EDD interpreter
The parsing software used when parsing EDD files.
Note: Through the proxy parser, the elements in the EDD file can be parsed and an XML file of a specific format can be generated, and then the XML file can be mapped to OPC The address space of the UA server.
3.1.2 Field device
a) An independent physical entity that can be networked in an industrial automation system has the ability to perform specified functions in a specific environment, and is connected by it The mouth is separated.
b) An entity that implements control, drive and/or sensing functions in an automation system has an interface to other such entities. [GB/T 29618.1-2017, definition 3.1.22]
3.1.3 Device type
Devices based on abstract characteristics such as manufacturer, fieldbus protocol, device type identification, device classification, version information or other information feature.
