GB/T 36840-2018 is the English-translated version of 玉米内州萎蔫病菌检疫鉴定方法.
GB/T 36840-2018 is the Chinese national method for detecting and identifying Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. nebraskensis (CMN), the bacterium that causes Goss's wilt and leaf blight of maize.
It applies to the quarantine and identification of the pathogen in maize seed and other maize plant material, with sampling carried out according to SN/T 2122.
Identification combines several lines of evidence: the symptoms on the plant, colony morphology, physiological and biochemical characteristics, PCR and real-time PCR results and a pathogenicity test.
The standard lists the reagents, culture media and buffers needed, and the equipment, from microscope and incubator to PCR and real-time PCR instruments, gel imaging and a Biolog identification system.

1 Scope
This standard specifies the quarantine and identification methods for Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. nebraskensis.
This standard is applicable to the quarantine and identification of corn wilt pathogens in corn seeds and corn plant materials.
