GB/T 35456-2017 is the Chinese national method for measuring the volatile organic compounds of stationery and sports goods and of their parts.
It sets how the content and the release of formaldehyde, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene, styrene and total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) are determined, with the preparation of the specimen, the chamber and analytical conditions, the calculation and the test report.
It applies to sports goods, stationery and their spare parts, which are handled by children and used indoors. Manufacturers, importers and testing laboratories use it to prove compliance with the product safety requirements. Issued on 29 December 2017, it has applied since 1 July 2018.

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
1 Scope
This standard specifies the style of supplies and spare parts, the volatile organic compounds (VOC) content and release test methods.
This standard applies to sports goods and spare parts, formaldehyde, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene, styrene, volatile organic compounds (TVOC) content and release of the determination.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Volatile organic compounds
Organic compounds released from the sample and detected in the outlet gas of the test equipment.
Note 1. The outlet of the test equipment shall mean the outlet of the equipment for testing the content and release of volatile organic compounds, including those designed for the collection of gas samples Sample mouth. For example, when testing for Volatile Organic Compounds released by a climate chamber, the exit from the test facility is the outlet of the climate chamber or the outlet of the climate chamber Sample port; Headspace test Volatile organic compound content, the exit of the test equipment refers to the needle vent.

3.2 Total volatile organic compounds; TVOC
Non-polar column separation (polarity index less than 10), gas chromatography retention time in n-hexane to n-hexadecane (n-hexane And n-hexadecane).

3.3 Volatile organic compounds content volatileorganiccompoundcontent; VOCcontent
The mass of volatile organic compounds contained in a unit mass sample.
3.4 Volatile organic compound emissions
The mass of volatile organic compounds released from the sample within the specified time and space.

Temperature of 273.15K, the pressure of 101.325kPa dry matter state.
