Scope
GB/T 35068-2018 is the English-translated version of 油气管道运行规范.
China's national specification for operating and maintaining oil and gas pipelines. It specifies the general requirements on the pipeline enterprise, its facilities and its personnel, the production preparation and commissioning, and the operation and maintenance regime that follows. It is the companion to the design and construction code, and it covers the far longer part of a pipeline's life. A transmission pipeline is built in a couple of years and operated for fifty, by people who did not build it, across land whose use changes around it: farmland becomes suburb, a road is widened over the easement, a contractor digs where nobody told him not to. Third party damage is the leading cause of pipeline failure worldwide, and almost everything in an operations regime that actually prevents incidents is about the outside world rather than the pipe - patrolling the route, marking it, liaising with whoever might dig, and responding when they do. The rest is inspection, corrosion protection, and knowing the pipeline's condition well enough to plan repairs before they become emergencies.

1 Scope
This standard specifies the technical and management requirements for the commissioning, operation, maintenance and repair of oil and gas pipelines. This standard is applicable to the design of GB 50251 or GB 50253 for the transportation of crude oil, refined oil, natural gas, coalbed methane and coal. Operation management of onshore steel pipelines with gaseous media.
