Scope

GB/T 35065.2-2023 is the English-translated version of 湿天然气流量测量 第2部分:流量计测试和评价方法.

GB/T 35065.2-2023 covers how a wet gas flow meter is tested. Natural gas arriving from a well carries liquid - condensate and water - and that liquid destroys the assumptions every conventional gas meter is built on. A differential pressure meter reads high because the liquid adds to the pressure drop, an ultrasonic meter loses its signal when the transducer faces are wetted, and the error is not a fixed offset: it depends on how much liquid is present and on how it is distributed, which changes with flow rate and with the shape of the pipework upstream. Since these meters allocate production between parties, the error is money. This part specifies the principles, the test facility arrangement, the test conditions and the procedures for testing and evaluating the metering performance of wet natural gas flow meters, both in the laboratory and in the field, together with the treatment of the data. Testing in both places is the point: a laboratory can generate controlled liquid fractions, but only a field test exposes the meter to the real flow regime. Under ICS 75.180.30 and CCS E98, it is written for meter manufacturers, for oil and gas operators, and for the metering laboratories and allocation auditors.

1 Scope

This document describes the principles, test setup, and procedures for testing and evaluating the metering performance of wet natural gas flow meters in the laboratory and in the field: quality, test conditions, test process, data processing and evaluation methods: This document applies to the measurement performance testing and evaluation of flow meters for wet natural gas flow measurement defined in GB/T 35065:1:
