Scope
GB/T 33440-2021 is the English-translated version of 天然气互换性一般要求.
GB/T 33440-2021 sets the general requirements for the interchangeability of natural gas.
It fixes what a replacement or blended gas has to satisfy to be burned safely on the appliances adjusted for the gas already supplied: the Wobbe index and the other combustion indices, the limits within which they may vary and the checks to be made before a change of source.
It applies to conventional natural gas, coalbed methane, shale gas, coal-based synthetic natural gas and LNG. Gas utilities, suppliers and appliance makers use it. Issued on 31 December 2021, it has applied since 1 July 2022.

Foreword
This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1. Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" drafted.
This document replaces GB /Z 33440-2016 "General Requirements for Interchangeability of Natural Gas Entering Long-distance Pipeline Networks", and is consistent with GB /Z 33440-2016 In addition to editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:
--- Changed the scope of the standard, deleted "entering the long-distance pipeline network", and deleted the content of safety tips (see Chapter 1,:2016 edition of Chapter 1);
--- Changed the terms and definitions "high calorific value" and "Wobbe index", deleted "combustion reference conditions" (see 3.1, 3.2,:2016 edition 3.1, 3.2, 3.3);
--- Changed the term and definition "Wobbe Index Volatility Range", and changed "Difference" to "Relative Deviation" (see 3.3, 3.4 of the:2016 edition);
--- Changed the suggested range of Wobbe index, and changed the upper limit from 53.81MJ/m3 to 53.80MJ/m3 (see 4.1, Chapter 4 of the:2016 edition);
--- Changed the regulations on the fluctuation range of the Wobbe index, from "should be ±5%" to "<=5%", and carried out the adjustment of the fluctuation range of the Wobbe index. Description (see 4.1, Chapter 4 of the:2016 edition);
--- Deleted the index requirements for hydrogen sulfide, total sulfur and water dew point (see Chapter 4 of the:2016 edition);
--- Added "Other technical indicators of natural gas shall be implemented according to GB 17820" (see 4.2);
--- Deleted "The determination of the natural gas composition on which it is based shall be performed in accordance with GB/T 13610" (see 5.1 of the:2016 edition);
--- Deleted the provisions on the determination methods of hydrogen sulfide, total sulfur, and water dew point (see 5.2, 5.3, and 5.4 of the:2016 edition).
1 Scope
This document specifies the requirements for the interchangeability of the replacement gas source/mixed gas source with the existing gas source.
This document applies to conventional natural gas, coalbed methane, shale gas, coal-to-synthetic natural gas, and liquefied natural gas.
2 Normative references
The contents of the following documents constitute essential provisions of this document through normative references in the text. Among them, dated citations documents, only the version corresponding to that date applies to this document; for undated references, the latest edition (including all amendments) applies to this document.

3 Terms and Definitions GB/T 11062 and the following
terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 High calorific value
The heat released when a specified amount of gas is completely combusted with oxygen. When the combustion reaction occurs, the pressure p1 remains constant, and all combustion The temperature of the combustion product drops to the same temperature as the specified reactant temperature t1, except for the water generated in the combustion, all condensed into a liquid state at the temperature t1 In addition, all other combustion products are gaseous.
Note: When the gas amount specified above is given in moles, the calorific value is expressed as (Hc)G(t1,p1); when the gas amount is given in mass units, the calorific value is expressed as (Hc)G(t1,p1);
The quantity is expressed as (Hm)G(t1,p1); when the above-mentioned gas quantity is given in volume units, the calorific value is expressed as (Hv)G(t1,p1;t2,p2), which Among them, t2 and p2 are the temperature and pressure corresponding to the gas volume measurement reference conditions. [Source: GB/T 11062-2020, 3.1]
3.2 GrossWobbeindex
The upper volume calorific value under the specified reference conditions is divided by the square root of the relative density under the same reference conditions. [Source: GB/T 11062-2020, 3.5, with modifications]
3.3 Wobbe index fluctuation range thefluctuationrangeofWobbeindex
In the Wobbe index change curve, the relative deviation of the peak (valley) value from the mean value Wr.
3.4 Interchangeability
The ability of one gas to substitute for another without affecting combustion performance.
3.5 Interchangeablebox
A plane coordinate system composed of vertical and horizontal coordinates, and a closed block diagram formed by specifying the range of relevant parameters in the coordinate system.
Note: Appendix A gives an example diagram of a natural gas interchangeable box. END. Draft Version (GB/T 33440-2021)
