China's national standard for classifying and marking the recoverability of earth-moving machinery components - the requirement that a machine be designed, and its parts labelled, so that at the end of its life the person dismantling it knows what each piece is and what can be done with it. An excavator at end of life is several tonnes of mixed material, and whether that becomes recovered steel, remanufactured assemblies and properly handled hazardous waste, or simply a heap, is decided years earlier by the manufacturer. The standard specifies the classification of the components of earth-moving machinery according to their recoverability and the marking that carries that classification, and it applies to the design, the manufacture and the end-of-life treatment of earth-moving machinery. The classification separates what can be reused as it is, what can be remanufactured to a condition equal to new, what can be recycled as material, what can be recovered as energy, and what must be disposed of as waste, with the components carrying fluids and hazardous substances - the batteries, the accumulators, the oils, the coolants and the refrigerants - identified separately, since those are what turn a dismantling yard into a contaminated site if they are not removed first. The marking requirements make the classification usable: the symbols, where they must be applied and how they must survive the working life of the machine, and the information the manufacturer must provide with it. It is the companion of GB/T 32803 on the classification of components for remanufacture and GB/T 32805 on their cleaning, and together the three describe the route a used component takes from a scrapped machine back into service. Issued on 29 August 2016 and in force since 1 March 2017.

3 Terms and definitions
GB/T 28619 and GB/T 30964 and the following terms and definitions apply to this document.
