Scope

GB/T 29784.4-2013 is the English-translated version of 电子电气产品中多环芳烃的测定 第4部分:气相色谱法.

GB/T 29784.4-2013 lays down a gas chromatographic method for determining polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the polymeric materials of electrical and electronic products.

Clause 1 states that this part of GB/T 29784 applies to the determination of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the polymeric materials of such products, and the standard notes in its foreword that GB/T 29784 is divided into four parts, part 1 using high performance liquid chromatography, part 2 gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, part 3 liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry and part 4, this one, gas chromatography.

A warning placed before clause 1 states that the part is to be used by personnel with regular laboratory experience, that it does not point out every possible safety problem, and that users are responsible for appropriate safety and health practices and for compliance with the relevant national regulations.

Clause 3 takes its terms and definitions from GB/T 29784.1-2013, and clause 4 gives the principle: the sample is crushed, extracted with solvent, the extract is dried and cleaned up by silica gel solid phase extraction, then concentrated and made up to volume and analysed by gas chromatography using the internal standard method.

Clause 5 lists the reagents and materials, which are of analytical grade unless stated otherwise and include n-hexane, acetone, dichloromethane, nitrogen of at least 99.99 per cent purity, mixtures of n-hexane with dichloromethane and of n-hexane with acetone prepared by volume, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon standard substances of at least 96 per cent purity and perylene-d12 (CAS No. 1520-96-3) of at least 99 per cent purity as the internal standard, together with the preparation of the standard stock solution by weighing 0.1 g of each to the nearest 0.1 mg into a 100 mL flask and dissolving in dichloromethane.

The normative references are GB/Z 20288 on the general requirements for disassembling test samples for hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products and GB/T 29784.1-2013.

The part was drafted according to the rules of GB/T 1.1-2009 and GB/T 20001.4-2001, carries a notice that some of its content may involve patents which the issuing body does not undertake to identify, and is administered by the national technical committee on environmental standardization for electrical and electronic products and systems, SAC/TC 297. It was issued on 2013-10-10 and has applied since 2014-02-01.
