Foreword

This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part 1: Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents" Drafting is required.

This document is Part 1 of GB/T 22750 "Ceramic materials for surgical implants". GB/T 22750 has been published as follows part.

--Part 1: High purity alumina ceramic materials;

-- Part 2: Zirconia toughened high purity alumina matrix composites.

This document replaces GB/T 22750-2008 "High-purity alumina ceramic materials for surgical implants" and is consistent with GB/T 22750-2008.

In addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.

-- Added "Category 1.Tests required for periodic inspection" (see 4.2.2);

-- Added "Category 2.Tests required by general material specifications" (see 4.2.3);

-- Changed the material properties. Table 1 added the requirements for Young's modulus, fracture toughness, hardness, and cyclic fatigue. The volume density, Chemical composition, microstructure, material strength. and related indicators of wear performance (see 4.3, GB/T 22750-2008 Chapter 4);

--Added sample preparation (see Chapter 5);

--The microstructure test method has been changed, and the requirements for the number of specimens have been increased (see 6.3, 5.3 of GB/T 22750-2008);

--Changed the strength performance test method, and added the four-point bending strength test and Weibull modulus test (see 6.4, GB/T 22750-5.4 in 2008);

--Added Young's modulus test method (see 6.5);

--Added fracture toughness test methods, including SEVNB, SEPB and SCF test methods (see 6.6);

-- Added hardness test method and adopted Vickers hardness test method (see 6.7);

--Added cyclic fatigue test method (see 6.9).

This document is modified to adopt ISO 6474-1:2019 "Ceramic materials for surgical implants - Part 1: High-purity alumina ceramic materials".

The technical differences between this document and ISO 6474-1:2019 and their reasons are as follows.

--ISO 14704 was replaced by the normative reference GB/T 6569 to adapt to my country's technical conditions and increase operability (see 4.3, 6.4.3);

--ISO 14705 was replaced by the normative reference GB/T 16534 to adapt to my country's technical conditions and increase operability (see 4.3, 6.7);

-- The normative reference GB/T 21114 replaced ISO 12677 to adapt to my country's technical conditions and increase operability (see 4.3, 6.2);

--ISO 15732 was replaced by the normative reference GB/T 23806 to adapt to my country's technical conditions and increase operability (see 4.3, 6.6.3);

-- The normative reference GB/T 25995 replaced ISO 18754 to adapt to my country's technical conditions and increase operability (see 4.3, 6.1);

--ISO 20501 was replaced by the normative reference GB/T 40005 to adapt to my country's technical conditions and increase operability (see 4.3, 6.4.4);

--Replaced ASTM C1259 with the normative reference JC/T 2172 to adapt to my country's technical conditions and increase operability (See 4.3, 6.5);

--ISO 16248 was replaced with the normative reference YY/T 1427 to adapt to my country's technical conditions and increase operability (See 6.9);

--Added reference to GB/T 37248 and further clarified the test method (see 4.3 and 6.2);

--The load for hardness test has been changed and the load requirements have been further clarified (see 6.7, 6.7 of ISO 6474-1:2019).

The following editorial changes have been made to this document.

--Replaced ISO 10993-1 with the informative reference GB/T 16886.1 (see Chapter 1, ISO 6474-1:2019 Chapter 1);

Introduction

The durability of artificial joints is closely related to the tribological properties of the prosthesis. Bioceramic materials have excellent tribological properties and good Good biocompatibility is often used as friction pairs in artificial joints.

GB/T 22750 "Ceramic Materials for Surgical Implants" is intended to consist of two parts.

-- Part 1: High-purity alumina ceramic materials. The purpose is to standardize biostable ceramic bone substitute materials based on high-purity alumina.

The properties of materials and corresponding test methods.

-- Part 2: Zirconia toughened high purity alumina matrix composites. The purpose is to standardize the biocompatible and biostable the properties of ceramic bone substitute materials (zirconia toughened high-purity alumina-based composite materials) and corresponding test methods were determined.

There is no known surgical implant material that has been proven to be completely non-toxic to the human body.

The material has been shown in long-term clinical use to have an acceptable level of expected biological response if used appropriately.
