1 Scope

3 terms, definitions, abbreviations and symbols

3.1 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1.1

Agreement agreement

Unless otherwise stated, "agreement" means "an agreement between the manufacturer and Party A at the time of enquiry and ordering".

3.1.2

Wet weight wetweight

Includes internal fluid weight minus wet weight of buoyancy.

3.1.3

Auxiliary pipeline auxiliaryline

Auxiliary lines outside the riser main pipe (excluding throttling and kill lines).

For example. hydraulic supply lines and annulus circulation lines.

3.1.4

Ball joint baljoint

A ball and ball groove assembly having a center passage equal to or greater than the inner diameter of the riser.

Note. It can be placed in the riser string to reduce local bending stress.

3.1.5

Barrier barrier

One or more barrier units designed to avoid accidental formation fluid intrusion.

3.1.6

Barrier element barrierelement

As a single component, it is not possible in itself to avoid components that flow from one side to the other.

3.1.7

Extrusion stress bearingstress

The average normal stress acting on the interface of the abutting surface.

3.1.8

Blowout preventer blow-outpreventer; BOP

Installed at the wellhead to isolate the casing annulus pressure, or the wellbore pressure of the open hole during drilling, completion, testing, or workover.

3.1.9

BOP stack BOPstack

The well control equipment assembly includes a blowout preventer, a cross, a valve, a hydraulic connector, and a throttling line connected to the subsea wellhead.

Note. In most cases, the term sometimes includes LMRP.

3.1.10

Buoyancy block buoyancymodule

The low specific gravity material structure, usually a foamed polymer, is bundled or stuck on the outside of the riser to reduce the wet weight of the riser.

3.1.11

Calculate calculation

Study the structural safety of components/systems by methods based on analytical formulas or numerical simulations, such as finite element methods or boundary element methods.

3.1.12

Charpy test Charpytest

A test showing fracture toughness in terms of energy absorption, lateral expansion, or fracture appearance.

Throttle and kill line choke-and-killine

Arranged circumferentially along the periphery of the riser to circulate fluid into and out of the wellbore and control the peripheral pipe line of the well pressure.

Connector connector

Used to connect adjacent components of the riser system to form a joint that withstands loads and prevents leakage.
