Scope

GB/T 18311.28-2007 is the English-translated version of 纤维光学互连器件和无源器件 基本试验和测量程序 第3-28部分:检查和测量 瞬间损耗.

GB/T 18311.28-2007 — This standard specifies the use of optical fibers and optical passive mechanical stress during the decay of the rapid changes in the measurement method.

Momentary loss measurement used to indicate briefly the impact of mechanical disturbance of the fiber. These disturbances may be considered to be test device (DUT) by factors such as: drop, vibration, shock, or for operation of the optical fiber caused.

So this measurement is usually when the device is in mechanical tests carried out. This method is not designed to measure very short transmission system characteristics that may affect the moment of loss (less than 1 ms).

What this standard covers

This standard specifies the use of optical fibers and optical passive mechanical stress during the decay of the rapid changes in the measurement method. This method is applicable to the device according to the performance test shall be carried out when the face of the mechanical stress due to moment loss detection, this time duration is usually transient loss of dozens of milliseconds.
