In addition, the main technological changes are as follows.

a) Added terms and definitions for milk production (see 3.1), and removed the terms for dressing percentage, net meat percentage, maximum pulling force, scrotum index, and progeny determination.

Terms and definitions (see 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4 and 2.5 of the 2008 edition);

b) The varietal origin, characteristics, and physical features have been altered (see Chapters 4 and 5, and Chapter 3 of the 2008 edition);

c) Increased body size and weight (see Chapter 6);

d) Meat performance and reproductive performance have been modified (see 7.1, 7.2; 4.1, 4.2 in the 2008 edition);

e) Serviceability features have been removed (see 4.3 in the 2008 edition);

f) Increased lactation performance (see 7.3);

g) The grading system for breeding donkeys has been revised (see Chapter 8, Chapter 5 of the 2008 edition);

h) Performance testing methods have been added (see Chapter 9);

i) The registration of improved varieties was deleted (see Chapter 6 of the 2008 edition).

1 Scope

This document specifies the breed origin and characteristics, physical features, body size and weight, production performance, and breeding donkey grading requirements for the Guanzhong donkey.

The performance testing method was developed.

This document applies to the breed identification and grading of Guanzhong donkeys.

4 Variety origin and characteristics

The Guanzhong donkey originated in the Guanzhong Plain of Shaanxi Province and is a dual-purpose breed for both meat and milk. Currently, it is mainly distributed in Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, and Xinjiang.

area.

5 Physical characteristics

The Guanzhong donkey is large and well-proportioned, with a slightly rectangular body. Its coat is short, fine, and glossy. The majority of its coat is black, with a few exceptions.

The color is chestnut brown, with white muzzle, eye rims, and underbelly (commonly known as pink nose, bright eyes, and white belly). Male donkeys have slightly heavier heads, while female donkeys are more delicate. They have broad and deep chests and open ribs.

The donkey has a straight back and waist; its limbs are upright, and its gait is agile and light. See Appendix A for the physical characteristics of the Guanzhong donkey.

6 Body measurements and weight

It should meet the requirements of Table 1.

7 Production performance

7.1 Meat performance

Under good fattening conditions, Guanzhong donkeys can gain more than 0.5 kg per day, have a slaughter rate of more than 56%, and a net meat yield of more than 36%.

7.2 Reproductive performance

Female donkeys reach sexual maturity at 12-18 months of age and begin breeding at 24-36 months of age. Their estrous cycle is 18-24 days, and the duration of estrus is [missing information].

The gestation period is 360-370 days, with gestation time ranging from 5 to 8 days. Semen collection or mating begins for male donkeys at 36-42 months of age, and the semen quality of the breeding male donkeys should meet the following standards.

Requirements of NY/T 3796.

7.3 Lactation performance

The average milk yield of female donkeys was 475.60 kg ± 120.70 kg, with an average milk fat percentage of (0.25 ± 0.02)% and an average lactose percentage of (6.40 ± 0.02)%.

The average milk protein percentage was (1.50 ± 0.10)%.

Eight types of donkeys are graded.

8.1 Assessment Subjects and Time

Male donkeys were assessed for appearance and body size at 18 months of age; and for appearance, body size, and weight at 24 and 36 months of age. Female donkeys were assessed at 6 months and 12 months of age.

Appearance, body size, and weight were assessed at 1 month and 18 months of age.

8.2 Appearance Assessment

If the variety characteristics are met, the total score is calculated according to Table 2, and the grade is determined according to Table 3.

Those with severe narrow chest, knee-to-knee (X-shaped), crossed overbite, lameness, concave back and lumbar region, convex back and lumbar region, pointed buttocks, recumbent hindquarters, and incisor malocclusion are disqualified.

If a male donkey is found to have damaged its markings, it will not be scored, and the female donkey will not be rated as a top-grade or first-grade donkey in the overall assessment.

8.3 Body Size Assessment

Assess body size according to Table 4.The lowest grade among the four body size standards determines the overall grade.

8.4 Weight Assessment

Assess weight class according to Table 5.

8.5 Overall Evaluation

Based on the assessment results of appearance, body size, and weight, the overall grade is determined according to Table 6.

9 Performance Testing Methods

9.1 Body measurements and weight

Perform according to GB/T 27534.6.

9.2 Lactation performance

9.2.1 Milk production

9.2.1.1 Daily milking yield. Isolate the foal from the mother donkey for 8 hours, and milk it manually or mechanically with a milking interval of 4 hours, for two consecutive milkings.

After weighing, the milking amounts from the two milking operations are added together to obtain the daily milking amount. Calculate according to formula (1).

9.2.1.2 Daily milk production is calculated according to formula (2).

9.2.1.3 Monthly milk production. Daily milk production was measured every 10 days ± 2 days, and measured 3 times per lactation month. It was calculated according to formula (3).

9.2.1.4 Milk production. The cumulative milk production of a female donkey during the six months from the start of lactation after foaling is calculated according to formula (4).

9.2.2 Milk Components
9.2.2.1 Milk protein percentage

Determined according to the method specified in GB 5009.5.

9.2.2.2 Milk fat percentage

The determination shall be made in accordance with the method specified in GB 5009.6.

9.2.2.3 Lactose percentage

Determined according to the method specified in GB 5009.8.

9.3 Meat performance

Daily weight gain, slaughter rate and net meat yield are specified in GB/T 43838.
