Scope

GB 47370-2026 is the English-translated version of 热气溶胶灭火装置.

GB 47370-2026 is the mandatory Chinese national standard for condensed aerosol fire extinguishing equipment — the pipeless units, floor-standing or suspended, in which a solid compound burns to generate the extinguishing aerosol. It applies where the mass of the aerosol forming compound is not greater than 3 kg, and excludes hand-held units and units for locations with an explosion hazard. It sets the requirements, the inspection rules, the content of the instruction manual and the marking, packaging and storage, gives the classification and the model designation system — QRR followed by the charge mass, the fire categories AM, B and AJ, the mounting letter L or G and the letter W for the temperature-restricted type — and describes thirty-two test methods, from discharge performance, temperature cycling, damp heat, vibration, shock and drop through the fire and concentration-distribution tests to the impact, electrostatic and friction sensitivity of the aerosol forming compound. Equipment shall work from −20 °C to +55 °C at a relative humidity of not more than 95 %; the declared discharge time shall be not more than 90 s above 1 kg of compound and not more than 40 s at 1 kg and below, within ±10 % of the declared value. Six normative annexes fix the assay of potassium and strontium nitrate and the test programmes and sample counts. In force from 1 April 2027.

Introduction

Where the raw materials and the components used in the condensed aerosol fire extinguishing equipment described in this document are civil explosive articles or hazardous chemicals, the corresponding safety management requirements are laid down in the Regulations on the Safety Management of Civil Explosive Articles, the Regulations on the Safety Management of Hazardous Chemicals, the Measures for the Public Security Administration of Hazardous Chemicals Readily Convertible to Explosives and other such documents. This document is used together with those documents.

1 Scope

This document specifies the requirements, the inspection rules, the requirements for drafting the instruction manual and the marking, packaging and storage of condensed aerosol fire extinguishing equipment; it gives the classification and the method of composing the model designation, and describes the corresponding test methods.

This document applies to pipeless condensed aerosol fire extinguishing equipment in which the mass of the compound forming the aerosol fire extinguishing agent is not greater than 3 kg.

This document does not apply to hand-held condensed aerosol fire extinguishing equipment or to condensed aerosol fire extinguishing equipment used in locations with an explosion hazard.

3 Terms and definitions

For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.

3.1 Condensed aerosol fire extinguishing agent

The fire extinguishing substance produced by the aerosol fire extinguishing agent forming compound through a combustion reaction.

3.2 Compound forming aerosol fire extinguishing agent

The solid chemical mixture that produces the condensed aerosol fire extinguishing agent (3.1) through a combustion reaction.

Note: it generally consists of an oxidizer, a reducer and additives.

3.3 Condensed aerosol fire extinguishing agent generator

The assembly in which the compound forming the aerosol fire extinguishing agent (3.2) is formed to the design requirements and fitted with the initiating charge.

3.4 Condensed aerosol fire extinguishing equipment

Equipment that makes the compound forming the aerosol fire extinguishing agent (3.2) produce the condensed aerosol fire extinguishing agent (3.1) through a combustion reaction.

Note 1: it usually consists of an actuating device, a condensed aerosol fire extinguishing agent generator (3.3), a coolant (cooling equipment), a feedback element (where applicable) and an enclosure.

Note 2: condensed aerosol fire extinguishing equipment is referred to below as “the extinguishing equipment”.

3.5 Actuating device

The component able to supply, by electrical, thermal, chemical, mechanical or other means, the initial energy necessary for the combustion reaction of the compound forming the aerosol fire extinguishing agent (3.2).

3.6 Extinguishing application density

The mass of the compound forming the aerosol fire extinguishing agent (3.2) needed to extinguish a fire of a given combustible in a unit volume of space.

Note: the unit of extinguishing application density is grams per cubic metre (g/m³).

3.7 Discharge lagging time

The time from the reception of the actuating signal by the extinguishing equipment to the beginning of the discharge of the condensed aerosol fire extinguishing agent (3.1) from the discharge port.

3.8 Discharge time

The time from the beginning to the end of the discharge of the condensed aerosol fire extinguishing agent (3.1) from the discharge port.

3.9 Extinguishing time

The time from the beginning of the discharge of the condensed aerosol fire extinguishing agent (3.1) from the discharge port to the extinction of the open flame.

3.10 Coolant (cooling equipment)

The medium or the device installed inside the extinguishing equipment that effectively lowers the temperature of the condensed aerosol fire extinguishing agent (3.1) before it passes through the discharge port.

3.11 Thermal clearance

The distance between the discharge port and the point at which the condensed aerosol fire extinguishing agent (3.1) discharged by the extinguishing equipment reaches a specified temperature, during the discharge.

3.12 Discharge port temperature

The maximum temperature at 5 mm from the outer edge of the discharge port during the discharge of the condensed aerosol fire extinguishing agent (3.1) by the extinguishing equipment.

3.13 Temperature-restricted extinguishing equipment

Extinguishing equipment for which there is a limiting requirement on the discharge port temperature.

3.14 Thermal stability

The property by which the compound forming the aerosol fire extinguishing agent (3.2) does not decompose under the action of heat.

4 Classification

4.1 According to the way the extinguishing equipment is installed it is divided into: a) floor-standing extinguishing equipment; b) suspended extinguishing equipment.

4.2 According to the type of limit on the discharge port temperature it is divided into: a) temperature-restricted extinguishing equipment; b) non-temperature-restricted extinguishing equipment.

5 Model designation

The model designation is composed as follows: QRR for condensed aerosol fire extinguishing equipment; then the nominal mass of the compound forming the aerosol fire extinguishing agent, in kilograms (kg); then the extinguishing category, AM for the surface fire of a wood crib, B for a class B fire and AJ for a polymer fire; then the way the extinguishing equipment is installed, L for floor-standing and G for suspended; then the type of limit on the discharge port temperature, not marked for the non-temperature-restricted type and W for the temperature-restricted type; and finally the manufacturer’s own designation.

Example 1: QRR3AMBL denotes non-temperature-restricted, floor-standing condensed aerosol fire extinguishing equipment able to extinguish the surface fire of an AM wood crib and a class B fire, with a nominal mass of the aerosol forming compound of 3 kg.

Example 2: QRR1AMGW denotes temperature-restricted, suspended condensed aerosol fire extinguishing equipment able to extinguish the surface fire of an AM wood crib, with a nominal mass of the aerosol forming compound of 1 kg.
