Scope
GB 13618-1992 is the English-translated version of 对空情报雷达站电磁环境防护要求.
GB 13618-1992 specifies the requirements for protecting air defense surveillance radar stations operating between 80 MHz and 3 000 MHz against electromagnetic radiation from high-voltage overhead power lines, substations, railways, motor highways and industrial, scientific and medical radio-frequency equipment, and provides the basis for coordination between these radar stations and other radio services.
It defines the key terms, including the maximum permitted interference voltage and field strength, the protection distance, the interference duration and the electromagnetic obstacle.
Its interference protection criteria allow a loss of detection range of no more than 5%, and set maximum permitted interference voltages at the receiver input for white noise, for random high-frequency pulse interference, and for AM and FM signals outside the passband, together with limits on intermodulation, electromagnetic obstacles and interference duration.
A table of protection distances gives the minimum separation from power lines, substations, railways, highways, heat sealing machines, furnaces, welding, physiotherapy and agricultural equipment, and informative annexes derive the criteria from the radar range equation and give formulas for the maximum permitted field strength.
It is the first edition, issued on 19 August 1992 and in force since 1 September 1993. Classification: ICS 33.200, CCS M 50. The document runs to 10 pages, delivered complete in English translation.

1 Subject content and scope of application
This standard specifies the requirements for the protection of air defense surveillance radar stations against electromagnetic radiation from high-voltage overhead power transmission lines, substations, railways, motor highways, and industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) radio-frequency equipment, and specifies the basis for coordination between air defense surveillance radar stations and other radio services.
This standard applies to air defense surveillance radar stations operating in the frequency band 80 MHz to 3 000 MHz.
2 Terms
2.1 Air defense surveillance radar station
An air defense surveillance radar station consists of the air defense surveillance radar, the interrogator and ancillary equipment. It is used in air defense and air traffic control systems to search for, monitor and identify airborne targets and to determine their coordinates. Air defense surveillance radars generally include early-warning, guidance, height-finding, target indication and air traffic control radars.
2.2 Radar station electromagnetic environment

Annex A (informative) Determination of the maximum permitted interference power and maximum permitted interference voltage of air defense surveillance radars
The radar range equation is:
Rmax = [Pt G^2 lambda^2 sigma / ((4pi)^3 Psmin L)]^(1/4) ... (A1)
where:
Rmax - maximum detection range of the radar, m;
Pt - transmitted pulse power of the radar, W;
G - radar antenna gain;
lambda - operating wavelength of the radar, m;
sigma - effective reflecting area of the target, m2;
Psmin - minimum detectable signal power of the radar receiver, W;
L - system losses.
In the absence of harmful interference, the minimum detectable signal power of the receiver is M times the equivalent noise power Pn at the input, i.e.:
Psmin = M Pn ... (A2)
where:
M - discrimination factor;
Pn - equivalent noise power at the receiver input, W.
In the presence of external harmful white noise interference, the minimum detectable signal power is:
P'smin = M (Pn + Pj) ... (A3)
where:
P'smin - minimum detectable signal power in the presence of external harmful white noise interference, W;
Pj - power of the external harmful white noise interference, W.
The detection range loss rate is:
Y = (Rmax - R'max) / Rmax = 1 - (Psmin / P'smin)^(1/4) ... (A4)
where:
Y - detection range loss rate;
R'max - radar detection range under interference, m.
When the range loss rate is Y, the harmful interference power at the receiver input is:
Pj = [(1 - Y)^(-4) - 1] Pn ... (A5)
The interference protection criteria specify that Y shall not exceed 5%; the maximum permitted interference power at the receiver input is therefore:
Pjmax = 0.23 Pn ... (A6)
The corresponding maximum permitted interference voltage is:
Ujfmax = 0.48 Unf ... (A7)
where:
Ujfmax - r.m.s. value of the maximum permitted interference voltage at the receiver input, µV;
Unf - r.m.s. value of the system noise voltage of the receiver itself referred to the receiver input, µV.
Annex B (informative) Formulas for calculating the maximum permitted interference field strength of air defense surveillance radars for different interference sources
B1 Maximum permitted interference field strength for amplitude-modulated and frequency-modulated interference signals:
Ejpmax = Ujpmax + 20 lg f - G - 10 lg Z + KDeltaf + L - 12.8 ... (B1)
where:
Ejpmax - peak value of the maximum permitted interference field strength, dB(µV/m);
Ujpmax - peak value of the maximum permitted interference voltage, dB(µV);
f - operating frequency of the radar, MHz;
G - radar antenna gain, dB;
Z - input impedance of the radar receiver, Omega;
KDeltaf - out-of-band rejection coefficient of the radar receiver, dB;

B2 Maximum permitted interference field strength for high-voltage overhead power transmission lines, substations, railways, motor highways, industrial, scientific and medical radio-frequency equipment, etc.:
Ejqmax = Ujfmax + 20 lg f - G - 10 lg Z + DeltaEgp + L - 9.8 ... (B2)
where:
Ejqmax - maximum permitted quasi-peak interference field strength, dB(µV/m);
Ujfmax - r.m.s. value of the maximum permitted interference voltage, dB(µV);
DeltaEgp - difference in decibels between the quasi-peak field strength Ejq and the peak field strength Ejp; for values see Table B1.
