Scope

GB 10767-2021 is the English-translated version of 食品安全国家标准幼儿配方食品.

GB 10767-2021 is the Chinese national food safety standard for young children formula, the products fed to children aged 12 to 36 months. It defines young children formula as a product whose main protein source is milk and milk protein products and/or soy and soy protein products, with vitamins, minerals and other raw materials added.

It sets the requirements for raw materials, sensory properties, essential ingredients, food additives and nutritional fortifiers and urease activity, with tables of protein, fat, carbohydrate, vitamin and mineral content per 100 kJ (100 kcal).

It also covers labelling, instructions for use and packaging, including the use of carbon dioxide and nitrogen as packaging media. It takes over the part of GB 10767-2010 that covered 12 to 36 months, was issued on 22 February 2021 and has applied since 22 February 2023.

Foreword

This Standard replaces the content of formula food suitable for children aged 12~36 months in GB 10767-2010 "National food safety standard Older infants and young children formula".

Compared with the content of formula food suitable for children aged 12~36 months in GB 10767-2010 "National food safety standard Older infants and young children formula", the main changes in this Standard are as follows:

- modified the scope of the standard;

- added the requirements for ratio of lactose;

- modified the minimum or maximum value of some nutrients;

- added the minimum or maximum value of some nutrients;

- modified the test methods.

1 Scope

This Standard applies to the formula consumed by children aged 12~36 months.

2 Terms and definitions

2.1 Young children formula

the product that takes milk and milk protein products and/or soy and soy protein products as the main protein source, is added with appropriate number of vitamins, minerals and (or) other raw materials and is produced and processed by physical methods; it is suitable for young children; its energy and nutrients can meet part of the nutritional needs of normal children

3 Technical requirements

3.1 Requirements for raw materials

3.1.1 The raw materials used in the product shall comply with the corresponding safety standards and (or) relevant regulations. It shall ensure the safety of young children and meet their nutritional needs.

3.2 Sensory requirements

The color, taste, smell, tissue state and preparation of young children formula shall meet the characteristics of the corresponding product. There shall be no foreign objects visible with normal vision.

3.3 Essential ingredients

3.3.1 All the essential ingredients in the product are necessary for the growth and development of young children.

3.3.3 The amount of protein, fat and carbohydrate per 100kJ (100kcal) in the product shall meet the requirements of Table 1.

3.3.4 Vitamins

Shall comply with the provisions in Table 2.

3.3.5 Minerals

Shall comply with the provisions of Table 3.

3.9 Food additives and nutritional fortifiers

3.9.1 The use of food additives and nutritional fortifiers shall comply with the requirements of GB 2760 and GB 14880.

3.10 Urease activity

Urease activity in products that use soybeans or soybean products as protein sources shall meet the requirements of Table 7.

4 Others

4.1 Label

4.1.1 The product label shall comply with GB 13432 and (or) relevant regulations. The content label of essential and optional ingredients shall add the content label of "100kJ (100kJ)".

4.2 Instructions for use

4.2.1 Relevant product use, preparation instructions and illustrations, and storage conditions shall be clearly stated on the label. When the maximum surface area of the package is less than 100cm² or the mass of the product is less than 100g, the illustration may not be marked.

4.3 Packaging

Carbon dioxide and (or) nitrogen that meet the national food safety standards can be used as packaging media. […]
